Upcoming Role Playing Game Releases in 2020

Cyberpunk 2077 stole the show at the last E3. Not only did they unveil some more spectacular gameplay and cinematics, but they also had Keanu Reeves show up on stage to declare that the audience was breathtaking. CD Projekt’s trajectory as a company has earned it a lot of goodwill among gamers. The Witcher 3 built on the success of the previous two and provided an experience with surprisingly universal appeal.

Of course, when the Speed star made his appearance, he announced that the game would come out in April. It’s since been delayed, and then delayed again. At the time of writing, it’s due to land in November – which might persuade many gamers to make a few upgrades.

7. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

The sequel to 2004’s Bloodlines is the second game from Paradox on this list, and the only game to not yet have a release date penned. The first game had the considerable misfortune of coming out on the same day as Half Life 2, and it was riddled with bugs. This time around, things look set to be more polished right out of the gate.

It’s a little bit of a surprise that there aren’t more vampire games made, given how neatly they can bring supernatural powers into just about any historical setting. Aside from 2018’s Vampyr, this is the only game in town for those looking to suck blood and fear sunlight (although World of Darkness vampires won’t have to worry about garlic or silver.

8. Crusader Kings III

This much-anticipated strategy title brings more than a splash of RPG to the world map. You’ll play as an actual ruler rather than just as a faction. This means that putting points into your personal qualities is just as important as building fortifications and researching new kinds of catapult. What we’ve seen of the map suggests that there’ll be plenty of detail on offer when the game lands in September.

Release date: 1st September 2020

Another threequel here, this time from inXile entertainment. Among the more noteworthy additions to the classic post-apocalyptic RPG is support for co-operative multiplayer, and a greater proportion of the dialogue being voiced. While experience with the first two games isn’t a necessity, it will help to make the plot that little bit more comprehensible – so now’s a great time to catch up!

Of course, you can follow the plot of The Iliad, and simply form a massive army of Greeks to go and get Helen back from Paris (although you won’t be hiding in a wooden horse). Things look like they’ll be more historical than mythological here – the centaurs and minotaurs in the game are really just people dressed up.

Minimum System requirements for A Total War Saga: Troy

  • CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E6850

Upcoming First Person Shooter PC Game Releases in 2020

11. Doom Eternal

The next leap in action-packed, first-person combat, Doom Eternal is an upcoming first-person shooter video game, developed by id Software. Cyberpower UK players take on the role of the Doom Slayer, an ancient warrior destined to battle the demonic forces of hell in a gruesome first-person perspective set in an ethereal demonic world. Become the slayer in an epic single-player campaign and expect new and improved, impressive firearms such as the heavy cannon, rocket launcher and plasma rifle to conquer demons across dangerous dimensions.

Fans of the original Doom PC game in 2016 are in for a treat, as the gameplay teaser released last month features new and improved high-difficulty Slayer challenges, the ability to take control over enemy units and additional movement upgrades such as wall-climbing, dash moves and more action-packed FPS fun. With impeccable graphics and an incredibly immersive gameplay, the fifth title in the Doom saga is set to be one of the biggest FPS games of 2020.

Release Date: March 20th 2020

Minimum System requirements for Doom Eternal

  • RAM: 8 GB

12. Halo Infinite

The recent unveiling of the first gameplay footage has provoked a mixed reaction, with many observing that the game looks decidedly underwhelming. As Digital Foundry has noted, the lighting engine must bear a significant amount of the blame for this, and it’s surprising that we don’t see more real-time tracing techniques at work in the footage, given the support for the tech on the next-gen Xbox. That said, the fact that the game is coming to PC suggests that there will be a host of graphical options to tweak – and the fact that the game is running at 4K in the trailer suggests that we PC gamers will be able to push the frame rate up beyond the 100 mark.

Release Date: 2020

Minimum System requirements for Halo Infinite

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz / AMD FX-8320.
  • RAM: 8 GB

The epic Tom Clancy PC series doesn’t show any signs of slowing down anytime soon, with the new Rainbow Six Quarantine due to be released in 2020. Set several years into the future of the infamous Rainbow Six universe, your mission is to take on a vicious mutating alien virus that threatens the whole of civilisation. Taking FPS gameplay inspiration from the Rainbow Six Siege’s Outbreak event, the trailer reveals previews of a dark, tense atmospheric gameplay with the live, mutating threat of biohazard enemies lying around every corner. Drop into quarantine zones and enjoy the cooperative 3-player gameplay experience that relies on tactical collaborative action to take out the infected.

Although FPS gunplay and intense combat action is expected to be very similar to the previous Rainbow Six series, you won’t need to be a seasoned Siege player to pick up the quarantine, creating a totally chaotic and immensely unpredictable gaming environment. Expect radically redesigned action, with impeccable graphics and action-packed mutation madness. The Rainbow Six Quarantine is expected to be released early 2020.

Release Date: 2020

Minimum System requirements for Rainbow Six Quarantine

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K/AMD FX-6300

If you haven’t yet had your fill of shooting monsters in the face, it’s a must-buy.

Upcoming Action-Adventure PC Game Releases in 2020

15. Mafia: Definitive Edition

If the newest trailer is reliable, this remaster breathes entirely new life into the 2002 classic. Developer Hangar 13 aren’t just tinkering around the edges; they’ve revamped the lighting, swapped out every asset, introduced a physics engine and woven in some fancy facial motion capture. The actual gameplay has been entirely overhauled, too, to bring it in line with modern expectations.

  • CPU: Intel i5-2500K or AMD FX-8120.
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD7870.

16.Watch Dogs: Legion

The upcoming installment of the Watch Dogs franchise is surprisingly set in London. With a varied cast of Cockneys resisting an authoritarian corporation, it looks like a lot of fun. The characters are varied in their personalities and abilities, which means there are plenty of ways to approach any given encounter. Somewhat unfortunately for Ubisoft, there’s another near-future urban combat game due to land just a week or so later.

Release Date: 29th October 2020

Minimum System requirements for Watch Dogs: Legion

  • CPU: Intel Core i3-560 3.3GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 805.
  • GPU: AMD Radeon R7 360X or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Upcoming Sports PC Game Releases in 2020

17. Windjammers 2

Competitive frisbee might not seem like the stuff from which gaming legends are made, but a few minutes spent with Neo Geo classic Windjammers is enough to correct that misconception. As anyone who’s experienced the joy of Windjammers will tell you, it’s among the best two-player experiences it’s possible to have. The sequel is coming to PC and Switch this year, complete with hand-drawn sprites that call to mind Streets of Rage 4.
