Everything New with Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat, a household name with every gamer, has rebooted(ish) its long-running franchise with Mortal Kombat 1. This new iteration of the beloved franchise is packed with new features whilst keeping the core gameplay people have come to know and love. So, how is Mortal Kombat 1 a Squeal and a Reboot?

The number 1 in the title might make you think this game is a complete franchise reboot. And in some aspects, you would be right. But Mortal Kombat 1 follows on from 11. We see the new universe that Liu Kang created when he defeated Shang Tsung and started his ‘new era’, which is where MK 1 picks up from, which means a new and fresh universe for the game to build upon and for players to discover. As a reboot, Mortal Kombat 1 takes the franchise in a new direction and gives a new lease of life to old characters with unique skins. These aren’t the only changes to the game. New Features of Mortal Kombat 1

Kameo System

The Kameo System is the first prominent new feature in Mortal Kombat 1, but what is it? The Kameo System lets players have a second character come and assist in the fight. At the character selection, once you have selected your main character, you can choose a character from the list below.

Once you have selected your Kameo character, they can assist you in the fight, but how? The system can be used to extend combos, secure more damage and help in fatalities, making for some outstanding action sequences with multiple characters. The full extent of the Kameo character has yet to be discovered, but with time, players will find the best way to utilise them.

All New DLC Characters

Not only do we get new mechanics, but we also get some new characters added to the roster in the form of a DLC. These characters are some recognisable faces from TV and movies you will know and love, along with some returning MK characters. A complete list is below.

Aerial Combat 

 Another new addition to Mortal Kombat 1 is the Aerial Combat. Letting players chain together combos whilst your opponent is in the air. You can find your character’s Aerial combos in the move list under basic.
